For the first time in 10 years, traffic over the Fourth of July is expected to decline, based primarily on the high cost of gas. The average cost of gas reached $4.09 Wednesday, a new record according to the AAA. Last year the average price at this time was $2.95, said AAA spokesman Troy Green.
Also citing the AAA, CBS news said, "For the first time in a decade, the number of Americans traveling for this holiday is expected to decline, by 1.3 percent."
What this probably means is some local businesses will get a bump in business, while travel-related businesses may suffer some; like hotels and other venues related to tourism.

This has actually helped the film industry, as people flock to local theaters to get relatively inexpensive entertainment.
For my American readers have a safe and fun Fourth of July.
