The use of underage girls for prostitution will also force Jeffrey Epstein be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Controversy surrounded the case from the beginning, as implications of the Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter was that the State Attorney Barry Krischer wasn't pursuing the case the way he should. As part of the response, Epstein, along with high-priced lawyers, also hired public relations specialists who tried to create doubt about the abilities of Reiter, as well as how truthful the victims were being.
The young women under 18 were paid to give Epstein massages for $200 to $300 each, which on numerous times led to sexual encounters.
For his crime, along with being a registered sexual offender, Epstein will serve 18 months in jail, and be under house arrest for a year.
Conditions of his house arrest are he must be at home from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 without supervision. He also cannot own or have possession of sexual or pornographic materials connected to his "deviant behavior," according to the judge.
Another tight restriction is he won't be allowed to drive anywhere alone without the permission of his probation officer, or volunteer his services to any place children may be get together as a group.
On the civil side of things, there are four federal lawsuits pending, and one in state court related to the case. There could be a number of others added in the days ahead.
In an interesting side note, Epstein has been identified today as "Major Investor No. 1," in the securities fraud case which resulted in the arrest of former hedge fund managers a Bear Stearns: Ralph Cioffi and Matthew Tannin.
It looks like there's going to be some credibility issues in that case concerning Epstein.
Epstein has hung out with the likes of Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.
