Those who manage, plan and guide the Kentucky Derby get my utmost respect, as year after year it delivers what it promises, and delights fans attending the event, as well as those watching on TV.
What makes the Kentucky Derby such a high quality and engaging success, is it appeals to a wide demographic, and it seems everyone likes to do something in connection with it; whether viewing, betting, writing, dressing up for it or just being seen, etc.
This is a testimony to the high level of management and planning of those who work behind the scenes to make it so great. All of this over a race that lasts less than two minutes.
While the race is important, it's everything surrounding the race that makes it what it is. The race is there as an excuse to do the rest. There is something for the die hard racing and betting fan, while those who just think about it for a week or two a year can feel just as involved for that time period.
You always have some type of drama surrounding the horses and the race, as well as important figures and celebrities attending. Regular people rub shoulders with the famous, and each is thrilled to be part of it all.
If many businesses were run like the Kentucky Derby, they would be far more successful than they are. There's very little to complain about that isn't taken care of by those putting it on.
The Kentucky Derby is definitely an event looked forward to, but it is also an overall experience surrounding the race: that's what makes it so popular and successful year after year.
