The decision by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to appear on the Fox News Channel, along with Howard Dean, is a huge diss and indictment of the fading far left liberal Web sites like DailyKos, Huffington Post and MoveOn.
What the actions speak to are these Web sites aren't considered the base of the party, like they portend, but rather a loud, but increasingly insignificant group of ranters that attempt to make their numbers look bigger using Internet techniques.
As people learn how these techniques are used to manipulate the idea that these groups are large and influential, they can than easily be pushed aside and marginalized like Clinton, Obama and Dean are doing through their actions.
Web sites and people that have to yell that loud can never retain the charade over an extended period of time; as evidenced by what has happened in this one presidential campaign.
Obama and Clinton know they must distance themselves from these out-of-touch groups in order to reach the moderate voter who will decide this election.
It's good to see them get a little courage and make that statement through their actions. If they would continue to be swayed by them, they would have a difficult time explaining that to the electorate, who don't want extremists as their leaders.
These two candidates have enough dubious baggage and socialist policies to attempt to persuade the American people with, without having the added anchor of radical leftists.
Now it'll be interesting to see if their actions are believed by voters, or it's thought of as a move to make them look moderate to them.
