Disgraced Navy Lt. Cmdr. Rebecca Dickinson testified in court that she had serviced hundreds of clients while "working" for a Madam in the D.C. area.
Dickinson was a Lt. Cmdr. in the Navy, and admitted she was paid between $250-$300 an hour working for Madam Deborah Jeane-Palfrey. She added she very seldom refused to have sex with whoever she was set up with.
The Navy did the right thing sending her a letter of reprimand and that she would never wear a Navy uniform again.
"We expect the men and women who serve in our nation's Navy to adhere to a standard of conduct that reflects our core values of honor, courage and commitment," said a Naval spokesperson.
"Lt. Cmdr. Dickinson's conduct will prevent her from wearing this uniform again in the service of our country."
Dickinson, who is evidently divorced, and has 3 children (although she hasn't had custody of them since 1998), decided to become a hooker after she filed bankruptcy. She worked as a hooker from October of 2005 to April of 2006.
It's good to see the Navy take the right actions in this circumstance, as it has caused a stain on the organization, and sends the right message to recruits, and especially officers, that they have core values that must be adhered to.
This was a total disconnect from reality by Dickinson, and she had ruined her life, and that of her family, by partaking in these types of activities. Hopefully she'll learn from her mistakes and be willing to pick up the pieces of her life again.
For the Navy, it's a good sign to see them having the will to do what they needed to do, in order to maintain their integrity and commitment to their values; something we must all battle to maintain.
