Texas Governor Rick Perry, calling the ethanol mandate by the federal goverment "misguided," has sought approval to get a waiver on the renewable fuel standard; seeking a cut of half the biofuel mandate.
Perry said, "The artificial demand for grain-derived ethanol is devastating the livestock industry in Texas and needlessly creating a negative impact on our state's otherwise strong economy while driving up food prices around the world."
This is why any government in the world needs to stay out of the marketplace. They have no idea of the usual "unintended consequences" they release from their "good intentions."
Those good intentions are always accompanied by the hope of votes for their valient efforts to save the people; which efforts are usually destructive, but spun to blame others. That's already happening in the ethanol debacle which is causing so much pain in its impact on food prices across the world.
The whole country needs a waiver; let's just wave-er goodbye. Get rid of this idiocy before it destroys more people's lives.
Senator John McCain was right when he called the launch of the corn-ethanol mandate in the U.S. in 2003 “highway robbery perpetrated on the American public by Congress.”
Of course Al Gore is nowhere to be found now that another one of his pet projects is being discovered for the stupidity it is. He wasn't available for comment on the turning of public sentiment away from biofuels and his global warming hoax.
