The demand for more coverage of the Masters golf tournament this year has resulted in an increase of in-depth and cross platform media coverage than ever before.
ESPN (NYSE:DIS) has replaced the USA Network as CBS's (NYSE:CBS) broadcast partner, and that will help to extend the reach of the tournament internationally, as well as use many of their existing digital platforms to allow on-demand access.
Global reach for ESPN is 194 nations on five continents, as well as their Spanish-language telecast on ESPN Deportes for the rounds on Thursday and Friday.
Augusta National chairman Billy Payne said, “We think ESPN is uniquely positioned to showcase the Masters, and golf, to new audiences.”
Combine that with CBS and their commentators Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo, David Feherty and their entire group, and add CBSSports.com, which also has an increasing amount of cross-platform coverage, and there should be anything a golf fan will want to see ... and probably more!
