After dropping off passengers at the Seychelles, Somalian pirates took control of a French cruise ship with 30 crew members on board.
The pirate attack came against the "Le Ponant," which was boarded as it headed toward the Mediterranean sea.
The ship was in the Indian Ocean in the Guld of Aden, which is off the coast of Somalia, when the attack occurred.
Somalia is without a navy, and the weak government doesn't have much control, as the country is still largely in a state of anarchy.
According to France Info radio, surveillance aircraft have been sent to the area, and a ship from operation Enduring Freedom, led by the U.S., was sent toward the area of the attack.
The vessel is owned by CMA CGM group, which offers a number of shipping services.
