You may not know or understand it when you're young, but you are a brand, and what you want to be and be seen as will be determined by how you act in life, no matter what someone tries to tell you.
Audrina Partridge, of the "Hills" tv show found that out the hard way over the last few weeks, as nude pictures of her have surfaced on the Internet (caution: nudity), which had been taken right after she was out of high school.
While she has expressed regret over her poor decision, and hopes young ladies that watch her will learn from her mistakes; it's too late for her, as people from around the world view her differently than they had before the photos emerged.
It doesn't matter if you think this is fair or not, this is how the real world works, even though those that try to get you to do these types of things try to talk you out of the fact there won't be any consequences for your actions in the future.
The truth is what you do does matter, and the decisions you make in your life can come back to haunt you. If you're willing to do stuff like this to yourself, what would you be willing to do in regard to the company that might hire you?
This is why human resources departments comb the Internet to see if you are one of those that make these types of stupid decisions.
If you're young, or whatever age you're at: you're a brand. You must live out what you represent honestly and truthfully. If you don't, if you go out of character and what you are, it could cost you over the long decades of your career. Don't allow those that say this doesn't matter to convince you otherwise.
When you get older you may be sorry what you did, but that won't matter to those businesses who want someone reliable, someone they can trust, and someone they can count on to be who they say they are. They don't want to find you on the Internet in some type of situation that could ruin what the company represents.
Keep this in mind when those who say they're your friends, or others trying to convince you to do things that are questionable.
In our day, everything you do will end up on the Internet if it has some type of snarky or questionable behavior. Don't let yourself be enticed into those types of situations, as it'll travel with you throughout your entire life. Audrina Partridge is finding that out the hard way.
Partridge's comment on the nude photos was this: "I took these photos years ago when I was just out of high school and beginning to model. I was young and very trusting of others and I didn't know to protect myself. It is a lesson learned, for myself, and hopefully for the young girls who look up to me."
