"The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you're willing to work."
This is one reason I personally like quotes so much, when you hear a really good one, it says far more than seen on the surface, and is always very simple but powerful.
I like this one especially because in one sentence Oprah demolishes a whole lot of uncertainty and confusion. She's right in saying the truly big secret in life is that there isn't one. Now that is a true secret!
The reason why success and attainment can be looked upon as hidden and unknown secrets, is because most the time ad copy or headlines are written in a way that conjures up the guru type of thing that has these deep mystical secrets unknown to the masses.
Buying somebody's product or service will bring you into the mystical inner crowd that very few have access to. While that type of marketing is effective, it's still only marketing.
Look at Oprah's second sentence above, where she says the other two basic elements of success. You have a goal, and you're "willing to work" toward that goal. Can it be any simpler than that?
The only thing I would emphasize is the goal must be very specific, and the means to getting there must be kept open and adaptable. In other words, we need to remain flexible on the means we use to get to where we want to go, while never moving off the goal or vision we have.
Whatever our business leadership goals are, it doesn't really go beyond that at all, as far as the overall picture goes. Everybody may take a different journey and have to learn different practicals according to the business we're interested in, but the "secret" never changes. The reason why? There really is no big secret!
Have a goal or vision, work hard toward it, then adapt as you go. Repeat until you reach where you want to go.

This eliminates the common belief that our success depends on other people. While we cannot avoid external factors from affecting how we live our life, this is still our life. Whatever choice we make is still our choice. When we make it a point to choose to live based on other people, then that's how our life is going to pan out. On the other hand, if we actively choose to take charge and set goals for ourselves, then the opportunities for growth are endless!
