In a move that shows Mississippi legislators and politicians have way too much time on their hands, some have introduced a bill - No 282, which would illegalize restaurants licensed by the state from serving obese people.
Introducing the legislation are Democrat Bobby Shows, and Republicans John Read and W.T. Mayhall, who serve in the House of Representatives.
How would it work? The Department of Health in the state would define what obese was, in conjunction with the Council on Obesity.
There was no wording in the bill that would determine what the fines or penalties would be if there were infractions to the rules.
Let's see. People who are overweight that couldn't be served in restaurants anymore. Sounds like people would save a lot of restaurant taxes, with the state losing a lot more.
I couldn't imagine something as stupid as this passing, but could you imagine having to turn down all the people who's body mass index wasn't in line with the state law?
Surely our representatives can find something better to do with their time then this.
