The public school system has again failed to filter out a teacher hired to teach our children.
Beth Ann Chester, 26, was formerly charged on Saturday with several sex crimes against children. She had resigned from her job on December 27 of being a freshman gym teacher at Moon High School in Scott, PA.
Chester is charged with sexual abuse of children, endangering the welfare of children, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal solicitation and criminal use of a communication facility.
The specifics of the charges is she sent nude photos of herself and text messages of a sexual nature to a 14-year-old male student.
Parents of the victim found the text messages.
Police confiscated Chester's computer, along with the cell phone of the student for evidence. She is in jail on $50,000 bond.
It's way past time for these nutty teachers to be seriously prosecuted. The harm she's done to this young boy could last a lifetime, as he said he "felt he was in love with the teacher now." He shouldn't have to go through that type of emotional turmoil and pressure.
This is another case of the failure of the hiring process in the public school system. Some people say there's not much more they can do than do background checks, but that's a lame argument.
Many businesses interview people a number of times and use techniques to filter out those not fit for the firm. When it comes to our children, we need to tighten up the process and learn from the private sector. I think the hiring process in many way is broken in the case of many public school districts, and they need to reevaluate their filtering systems, if they even have any.
