Pat Robertson, 77, announced on "The 700 Club," that his son Gordon would be taking over the reins of the Christian Broadcasing Network. It's one of a series of similar moves made by major Christian leaders over the last year. Gordon will be CEO of the network.
"I thought that some of this day-to-day operation was important to pass down the line, especially to somebody a little more adept at figuring out the new technologies coming at such a bewildering speed to all of us," said Robertson.
Robertson started the network in 1960 with a small UHF station. It has grown to reach out to over 225 countries in 99 languages. The ministry employs 2,800 people.
Also included in the network is "Operation Blessing," which reaches out to and helps people across the world.
Gordon headed the CBN Asia operations for five years in Manila, and was a graduate of Yale University and Washington & Lee Law School.
He's looking to grow the network globally through television and the Internet.
Pat Robertson will stay on as chairman of CBN and president of Regent University, and will still appear alongside his son on "The 700 Club."
Other sons taking over ministries this year were Jerry Falwell and his huge church in Virginia, along with Liberty University; and also Robert Schuller's son took over as leader of Crystal Cathedral, and the television broadcast "The Hour of Power."
