Warren Buffett bought enough shares in Dow Jones & Co. (DJ) through his holding company Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) to more than double his stake in it.
He increased the holdings from 2.8 million shares in the second quarter, to bring the total shares owned in Dow Jones to 6.3 million for the third quarter. The deal by News Corp. to buy Dow Jones should close sometime in December 2007.
Buffett also increased Berkshire's share in Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNI) from 39 million to 58 million in the third quarter. He also bought shares in another railroad Norfolk Southern Corp. (NSC), acquiring 1.9 million shares in that company.
Bank of America (BAC) was targeted on a smaller level, with Buffett increasing shares from 8.7 million to 9.1 million.
Another larger move by Buffett was to buy shares in Wabco Holdings Inc. (WBC), a firm that sells truck parts.
Buffett also added to his holding with Procter & Gamble Co. (PG), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), UnitedHealth Group (UNH), Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) US Bancorp (USB), and WellPoint Inc. (WLP)
