Buffett’s number one goal was to realize a profit for himself, for his company and for his investors. He just wanted to have a little fun along the way.
There is no higher purpose in a business than what Warren Buffett's purpose and goal was: "to realize a profit for himself, for his company and for his investors." His success at Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) speaks for itself.
Amazingly, even after years of proving it is the best and most valuable reason for the existence of business and capitalism, we still have the extraordinarily ignorant people that try to prove it's different than this.
For example, Buffett committing billions to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation came about because he took care of the major purpose and goal he had. The only, and I mean only reason he was able to do it was by taking care of the most important thing first.
We need to really be cautious of activists, especially in this area, as they have nothing better to do than attempt to put guilt upon those who are successful and get them to take their eye of their No. 1 priority.
The greatest purpose a business can have is to succesfully follow its stated purpose, not to go off on tangents to satisfy the herd that attempts to turn them into a government-like function. Even the government gets off into areas it doesn't belong in and continues to fail at them miserably.
Just take a look one day in whatever medium you get information from, and see the endless number of causes being espoused around the world. Almost all of them develop the doomsday scenario around them so they can get people to contribute to them.
The world isn't about to end. Taking our eyes off our business and its purpose could make the business end though. A business needs to focus on its stated purpose and vision. Those doing that will have the health and wealth to be able to make a difference in the long run.
Fight the tremendous powers and agendas out there that attempt to throw guilt on you because somewhere things are falling apart. A healthy, strong business ensures that the places and people you serve won't be the one that falls apart.

A brief introduction about Buffett at http://www.nndb.com/people/445/000022379/ seems a good epitome about his big success. It sounds to me like Buffett has been making billions of dollars doing one of the riskiest derivatives trades. Indeed he is such a value investor that he has become a legend, and his big success made him a true supervisor about career, family, financial investment and life itself. I am impressed by warren’s actions and words. Such people are rare in this world.really! I got to know a book "The Tao of Warren Buffett" Seems very good. His brilliance is shared in this book. I found it with a good price here: http://dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=69046 , this book is good for investors . You can have a look.
