
At the Dubai air show Sunday, Qatar Airways confirmed that the orders for Boeing (BA) 777s and 787s are firm, and the company also has options on 35 more planes.
The orders confirmed are worth $13.5 billion, and in good news for General Electric (GE), the planes will be powered by their engines (GEnx).
While the orders have been on Boeing's books for over a year, in now has increased by five new orders for 777Fs, adding to the 14 777-300ERs, six 200LRs and two 777Fs. The airline also has options on another five 777s.
The deal confirmed has 27 777s and 30 787s. The deal for the 787s involves the -8 model, which they will take delivery starting sometime in the middle of 2010.
For the 200LRs, they will start being delivered in the second half of 2008, while the 777Fs will be delivered later in 2009.
