
President Bush chose Waco, Texas as the venue for observing this Veterans Day. Along with thanking all veterans for their sacrifice, he also specifically recognized four Texans who have been killed in the war on terror.
Concerning the fallen troops Bush said, "These men ... saw the future of the terrorists' intent for our country and they said with clear voices, 'Not on my watch.'"
Vice President Dick Cheney paid tribute to Iraq veterans at Arlington National Cemetary. He placed also placed a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns.
Cheney said in honoring veterans: "Our conduct of our military today and throughout our nation's history makes this country very proud. It is our prayer they will return in victory, safely home, to live out their lives and be here to observe many Veterans Days to come."
