According to the US-India Business Council, Chairman and CEO of Pepsico (PEP) Indra Nooyi was named to the board of directors.
Pepsico itself is a chairman’s circle member of USIBC, considered the highest membership level that can be attained in the organization.
The US-India Business Council is the leading organization which represents two dozen of India's largest international companies, and also 250 of the largest companies in the U.S. which invest in India. The goal of the organization is to strengthen the business ties between the two countries.
"... Nooyi is a distinguished business leader who will be a wonderful addition to our board of directors," said council chairman Charles Kaye. "As the chief executive of a corporation spanning nearly 200 countries, she brings a unique and highly-valuable perspective to the US-India Business Council."
With India and the U.S. representing the largest two free-market democracies, the countries formed the council in 1975 to build commercial ties between the two of them.
