"If my critics saw me walking over the Thames they would say it was because I couldn't swim."
There's a time in our careers, when we must make a decision, and that decision will be based on who we really are and what we really believe as it relates to business and our worldview.
The makeup of certain elements in society will critique and battle you in a way that no matter what you do, they will find fault with you. These types of people, whether there internal or external, aren't worth the time of day. No matter what you do, they will demonize you; so why waste your time with them? The answer is you shouldn't. They do or say things for the purpose of getting attention. Giving them that attention only reinforces their stupidity, and wastes your valuable time.
Like Margaret Thatcher, we should be up to a good debate and be willing to listen to different sides of things, but in the end, we must make decisions that we are convinced of, and be willing to be criticized if need be.
Nothing gets done by taking in everything to the point where it can paralyze us into inaction; that's a form of perfectionism that no human being can ever reach. People that are afraid, to one degree or another, live this way, and they never reach out in life to get what they want, as there's always another reason why it can't be done, or a tidbit of information they don't have.
You will never be able to please everybody at any one time, and attempting to is a road to a life of failure. People will throw guilt on you from a number of perspectives, no matter what decisions are made. That's why it's best to make decision based upon the best possible information you currently have, and then adjust to things as you enter into whatever it is you're trying to achieve.
A sure way to failure is to listen to people that have no constructive thing to add to the conversation and project, who are little people only sitting on the sidelines of life throwing pepples and rocks at you. Ignore them, you'll never be able to please them, neither should we waste our time trying. We know Margaret Thatcher didn't.
