"Be an entrepreneurship within a corporation."
To have a business and corporation be entrepreneurial, there are two basic things that have to be part of the business. Those two things are what all good entrepreneurs have as part of their success.
The first one is access to all available data to do their jobs. Other then a very limited amount of data that may be crucial to keep secret for competitive reasons, everything else should be made available to our people; especially anybody in management or is a team leader.
Even if they have access to it alone, anything important should be shared with any person that the data applies to. Having access to all needed information is a key element of having an entrepreneurial work force.
We shouldn't have any of this secret information available only to a few, other than what was mentioned above. For example, Coca Cola (KO) shouldn't share its formula to make Coke with everyone. Other than that though, most other information should be readily available to our people.
Second, we must have a completely open communication system in our companies. Everything must be pulsating through our organizations, whether its two people or twenty thousand people. The only between larger and smaller companies should be the means of communiation, not the communication itself.
One of our main jobs as business leaders is to be committed to an open communication system. Not only does it ensure important information is received by everyone that needs to hear it, but also that information also moves up the organization so good ideas are heard by those in key positions as well.
You can't have an entrepreneurial workforce without these two key things being in place.
