You know the U.S. dollars' reputation has slid when even supermodels don't want to be paid with the greenback.
Gisele Bündchen has reportedly refused to be paid in U.S. dollars for an advertising gig she did with Pantene. Smart Girl! I wouldn't either if I was her; although I would definitely come and spend my euros in the U.S. when paid.
There is also buzz that in another arrangement with Dolce & Gabanna to promote their "The One" fragrance, she also want euros there as well.
Gisele's sister and manager Patricia Bündchen, commented saying, "Contracts starting now are more attractive in euros because we don't know what will happen to the dollar." It's good that Gisele has a smart sibling running her financial affairs.
This is just a reminder to consider the weakness of the U.S. dollar when investing and doing business.
It's great for U.S. manufacturers and tourist industries, and also good for those from other countries buying business products or services in the U.S.; assuming your currency has been strenghening against the U.S. dollar. Just don't neglect how it can be used to your business advantage, no matter where you're from.
Warren Buffett has been investing against the weakening U.S. dollar for some time, and one thing he does is invest in companies earning their money in other, stronger currencies.
