"There's never enough time."
I think an important aspect of the fact that there's never enough time, is accepting it. If we think that a high level of discipline itself will take care of this, we'd be wrong.
This isn't to say we shouldn't have systems in place to heighten our use of time better, or that discipline isn't important, just that even when things are operating at their best, there will never be enough time.
For those that don't embrace this reality, there's never a sense of contentment or joy, as they will pursue something in a way that they think they can beat what is perceived as a lack of time.
In most instances, the lack of time is another way of saying that life continues to go on. When something is handled, there's immediately another issue or problem to resolve; that's simply the way life is.
So when we think of there never being enough time, we have to realize that life itself is always happening, and that will cause an endless stream of things that emerge in our businesses.
The best we can do, is prioritize what we are faced with for a specific day, and be prepared the best we can for major emergencies. If we do that, we'll take care of the vast majority of things that need to be taken care of on a consistent basis.
This is the secret of enjoying our jobs, taking care of what's important for the day, and being ready for unexpected problems that will always be part of being in business.
We must be cautious to not tackle things that will take us off of priorities and make sure we take care of problems that emerge. Those that operate this way will not be overwhelmed by what is happening around them, and will be ready to handle whatever comes their way.
Those that don't have these things in place, will always fell like they're in a raging storm that never stops hammering on their senses.
So next time you think that there's never enough time for something, remember that it is a part of life that will go on indefinitely. We shouldn't be surprised that this is the way things simply are.
