The growing interest in preventing the staph germ is something most businesses will need to take a close look at.
In the past, most of this has been related to hospital visits or being under medical care of some sort. While that is still the cause of over 50 percent of cases, it is no longer the sole location people can get the germ.
Other places it has been spreading is through locker rooms, gyms, poor urban neighborhoods and prisons.
As far as businesses go, the best thing we can do at this time to battle the problem, seems to be if we have areas for our people to work out in or if we provide locker rooms for them, to take specific cautions to protect them.
Here's a list of several things we can do to help prevent the spread of the germ, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
Keep your hands clean by washing thoroughly with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand cleaner.
Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until healed.
Avoid contact with other people's wounds or bandages.
Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or razors.
It would be worth having something posted in the workplace, along with having the alcohol-based hand cleaner available.
