"Over the years, I’ve observed that nearly all high achievers know how to make good of those 1,440 minutes in each day."
This statement by Mary Kay seems obvious, but really, there's more to it than meets the eye.
For example, it's not only a matter of saying and knowing these things, it's the ability to be able to sift through the endless amount of clutter, and focus on what's most important.
Of course it's impossible to simply make a list - like I was tempted to do here, - because every business and position within a business is so different than another one, that there isn't an overarching, general way of looking at it that can be applied to everyone. If there was, high achievers would be everywhere, rather than the exception.
Again, it's the ability and willingness to let those things not as important and a key to success simply drip off our backs. It's the ability and discipline to know your strengths and how they apply to a business, and never take your eye off of that.
Those not able to do this end up chasing the constant barrage of issues that are involved in running any business. It's the strength and understanding that they must be let go, that makes the high achievers, well, high achievers.
High achievers won't allow themselves to be led down paths they shouldn't go down, which will take them on journeys away from their strengths and purpose.
It's more than simply having discipline, but having discipline within the knowledge of what you need to focus and give yourself to primarily, that is the differentiator. Having discipline while working on non-essentials, is a weakness and not a strength. Discipline while working on the right things is what makes a great business leader, or anyone achieve at high levels.
Mary Kay Ash definitely knew what she was talking about when talking about high achievers ... she was definitely one of them.

I like Mary Kay's ideas, She always quoted the immortal words "You can do it". These words were to follow her all her life. Mary Kay's ideas may seem old fashioned to some, but I found them to be refreshing. I think they are the keys to success. I have found a book written by her online seems nice: http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=66135
I am very interested with it. It is really a good book.
