The former Elana Elbogen, now Elana Glatt, has filed a lawsuit on behalf of her mother-in-law, husband David Glatt and herself, alleging the florist for her wedding was in breach of contract because they provided flowers of the wrong shade. Elena Glatt is a lawyer.
The lawsuit was filed Friday against Posy Floral Design Studios in a New York state court.
“The use of predominantly pastel centerpieces had a significant impact on the look of the room and was entirely inconsistent with the vision the plaintiffs had bargained for,” says the lawsuit.
Paula and Stamos Arakas, the florist owners, responded: “I can’t believe this. I put my heart and soul into this wedding." Husband Stamos added: “My father used to tell me, ‘Don’t deal with lawyers.’ Maybe he was right, God bless his soul.”
Stamos added that Glatt had contacted them by email asking for a $4,000 refund, which he and his wife both ignored, saying it “felt like extortion.”
One particularly outraged writer made the comment concerning Glatt: "Will Elana Glatt sue the rabbi for malpractice when her husband divorces her? This whole wedding flowers lawsuit reeks of vengeance, spite, and immature behavior. And probably a little bit of greed too…
"Soon her name will be synonymous with gold-digging lawsuits and female lawyer jokes. No word on whether she deemed her new husband’s honeymoon performance “egregrious” or not…
"And that’s about it for the news on bridezilla lawyer Elana Glatt."
Glatt practices law under her maiden name of Elana Elbogen.
How do you feel about the lawsuit? Is it a waste of court time and money? Should it be thrown out?
