Yet another toy recall has happened, as Wal-Mart (WMT) discovered an excessive amount of lead in some of its toy animals, as it steps up its testing of toys. The toy animals were made in China. Wal-Mart discovered the excessive lead in independent tests.
The company said in a news release that the toy animals were in the shape of farm animals, jungle animals and dinosaurs. They aren't marketed under a specific label.
The pictures below show the toys in their original packaging, without any brand name. The packaging also shows they sold for 88 cents.
Wal-Mart spokeswoman Linda Blakley concerning the toys, "We've had these for a while." At the time of the press release, there was no idea of how long the product had been stocked or how many had been sold.
All stores have been told to remove all of these toys from the shelves, and have what is called a register block on the items, so none of them can be sold in stores.
The giant retailer also notified the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the manufacturer. Toys from the same manufacturer are believed to have been sold to other retailers as well.
Consumers with the product can return it to the stores with or without a receipt to get a full refund.
