Rupert Murdoch has been all over the media doing some surgery on his chief competitor in the TV business space: CNBC (GE).
Some of the things he's said so far about the Fox Business Network are it will be more "business friendly" than CNBC; "it'll target stories about success, innovation and things that make money," in contrast to the more negative and political focus of CNBC. He also has said it's done nothing for the last 10 years. Them's fighting words Rupert!
Today he added the latest volley as he hinted the new Fox Business Channel will also appeal to a broader audience.
“They’re Wall Street and we’re Main Street,” he said.
This is a connection he's trying to make with the overall, general conservative demographic attracted to Fox News. He wants to grab a good portion of them to help the station get a good, quick launch.
While there's a lot of speculation about whether the Wall Street Journal will become ad-supported or remain subscription-based, Murdoch said he hasn't made a decision yet.
