A great story of seeing a need and filling it!
An amazing invention by a British man will allow any type of water to be drinkable within seconds.
When Michael Pritchard watched disasters come, like Katrina in the U.S. and tsunami in Asia, he couldn't believe that people had to wait sometimes for days to get fresh water. Pritchard, who runs a water treatment business, decided he wanted to do something about it.
He said: "Something had to be done. It took me a little while and some very frustrating prototypes but eventually I did it."
With clean drinking water many times the difference between life and death in disaster regions, Pritchard hopes his invention will save lives.
The invention is a fast improvement on existing filters because those filters only cut out things longer than 200 nanometers, while Pritchard's bottle will clean any type of water, as it will filter out anything longer than 15 nanometers long, which would include fecal matter.
Military leaders were also encouraged by the bottles, as many soldiers hate the taste of water flavored with iodine. It can also distill 4,000 liters or 6,000 liters without having to change the filter.
When he introduced his invention at the DESI conference in London recently, his entire stock of 1,000 sold out in a short time.
