With the launch of the Fox Business Network a go for next month, and the speculation of whether they will land some of the existing anchors from rivals, News Corp. (NWS-A) is quietly assembling its anchor team.
They announced Wednesday that they are going to their existing workers to create the starting anchor team in October.
The company said the Fox Business Channel anchors will be David Asman, Rebecca Gomez, Stuart Varney, Dagen McDowell and Cheryl Casone. Other contributors to the network will be Terry Keenan and Branda Buttner.
If you watch the existing Fox business shows, none of those mentioned will surprise anybody or be unknown to viewers.
This is a good move by Fox and will help still some of the ongoing speculation about who may be joining them.
It also is an encouragement to put their existing team out there and give the channel a public face. I think it won't be long after the network airs that Liz Claman, formerly of CNBC (GE), will probably be named as an anchor and or contributor to the network.
