The Koch Foods Inc. chicken plant in Fairfield, Ohio was the target of a massive raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Tuesday as hundreds of agents took part in the operation.
"As of 2:45 p.m. (EDT) more than 180 Koch employees have been identified for further questioning and more than 160 have been administratively arrested for immigration violations," ICE special agent in charge Brian Moskowitz told a news conference in Cincinnati.
In response to American citizens demands, the Bush administration announced this month they were going to get much more proactive and increase fines for those hiring illegals.
Charges against the employees will include identity theft, document fraud, illegal reentry into the U.S., forgery and social security fraud.
Koch Foods will face federal charges for crimes of inducing, encouraging and harboring illegal aliens, among others.
Those that have been detained will be brought to a processing facility in the Cincinnati area where the process of removing the illegals from the U.S. will begin.
