So much for the rhetoric about Wal-Mart not paying what people need. Evidently over 5,000 people applied for jobs at a new Wal-Mart (WMT) Supercenter opening in the Detroit area.
The supercenter is also the first in the metro Detroit area that will sell groceries. Overall the store will emply 530 workers said store manager Rita Acosta.
How come so many people are applying for these jobs if the wages are so low? Why aren't they going for higher paying jobs if they're available? It doesn't seem to matter in a highly unionized are that they aren't union jobs either.
Something's not right with this picture when you consider certain elements of the media who say nobody wants to work at Wal-Mart.
From this example the jobs are highly desirable and welcome in the community.
