A survey conducted by Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) found that 65 percent of business professionals are connecting through social networking Websites - both personal and professional.
The top three Websites used for networking professionally are LinkedIn, Yahoo 360 and MySpace, said Marketingcharts.
“Companies and employees have often gravitated to trade associations and shows for one primary benefit: community,” said Jay Jamrog, i4cp’s SVP of Research. “Social networks have opened a new dynamic in bringing that community online, and the ability to share what’s working and what isn’t in real time is invaluable to many employees today.”
Both top uses of social networks for businesses are related to communication. The major reason was to share best practices with one another across the organization, with 55 percent saying they did it; and second was using the social networking sites for internal and remote employees to stay connected, with 52 percent affirming that.
The major reason given by organizations for not using social networks was not knowing which ones to use for business purposes.
