In moves that would attempt to increase their online audience, John Byrne, executive editor of Business Week print magazine and editor-in-chief of their online site Businessweek.com, said that Businessweek is thinking about the idea of creating a "business YouTube."
The purpose of the new initiative would be to build a place where those interested would post videos that would pitch ideas about new companies or ventures.
Another thing they're looking at doing to generate new and repeat visits is to launch a contest where those with new business ideas could upload them with the chance of winning $500,000 in Venture Capital.
There would be a similarity in use as YouTube, in that users would be able to view the proposals and uploaded videos and vote on how well they liked them.
The Internet business site believes they need to create a larger online audience. Byrne said that the Web site is "Looking to do things that are highly engaging but are completely non-journalistic in many ways."
