"We're proud of what we've accomplished; we've just begun."
The above quote from Walton was said after he talked about the vision he had of decreasing the cost of living for everyone. He said: "And we'll lower the cost of living for everyone, not just in America, but we'll give the world an opportunity to see what it's like to save and have a better lifestyle, a better life for all."
His desire and goodwill toward the average person around the world has of course come under attack by elitest that hate the thought of poor and middle-class people living better. They hate the thought of those middle-class values being brought to their towns. That's a big part of the real attack upon Wal-Mart (WMT).
Walton was more than willing to adapt and change things when he saw that it was good for his people and for his customers. But I hope the present leaders of the company don't cave in to many of the outrageous lies they have been battered with and stay the course that Sam set for them.
The company needs to be proud of what it's done and accomplished. They need to remind the public and its customers of how positively they've impacted the country. Now they're going to do it around the world; and the world will be a better place because of it if they hold to their purpose.
Hopefully the current leadership will be able to say along with Sam some day, "We're proud of what we've accomplished; we've just begun."
