If you've ever studied business over the years, you'll find that some of the greatest managers are also some of the greatest promoters. This goes across all types of personalities and egoes.

When you take Branson's comment above about dressing up, or in some cases - dressing down, you see how powerful a tool something like that is. You see him all over the media in various pictures and video showing him in all his strange costumes.

This has probably produced literally billions of dollars in free promotion all over the world.

But look at others we talk about here. Sam Walton in his hula skirt that is still talked about long after his death. You can see Warren Buffett playing the Ukelele and singing along with the Fruit of the Loom characters. And when you think of Herb Kelleher, he is probably as nuts as Branson.

The point behind all this? Media is always looking for something interesting to offer their readers or viewers. Having someone with a name doing some goofy or silly stunt, or wearing some type of unique clothing to illustrate a point, is always welcomed by the media. The reason why is because it attracts eyeballs to whatever content platform they work with.

And even further, it's not always someone with a big name that this works with. There are tons of local things you can do to attract attention to yourself and the company. If you don't do it, find those among your people that like this type of thing and think of ways you can get this type of free marketing that is far more effective than anything someone could make up for you.
