"Refuse to throw in the towel."
The saying by Mary Kay above is simply another way of saying don't quit. You'd be surprised how many times just staying in the game can make you a winner as those competing against you simply drop by the wayside.
It's not that we count on that as a competitive advantage, it's just that there really aren't that many people that stick with it for the long haul. We even live in a disposable culture where people can bounce from one thing to another without ever being around long enough to succeed.
She added to her comment above by saying, "Go that extra mile that failures refuse to travel. It is far better to be exhausted from success than to be rested
from failure."
There is a road to travel with managerial and business success. One of the reasons not that many excel at it is because, as Mary Kay says, those that don't accomplish what they set out for refuse to travel that extra mile to get there. You don't get it unless you're willing to.
Refusal to quit, while being adaptable and willing to adjust, are two of the biggest factors that determine the success of anybody in whatever they set out to do. Business leaders and managers are especially required to have this to be part of their makeup.
Mary Kay endured a lot of criticism during her build up of her business, she never let it stop her from going on until she succeeded. We must embrace that same attitude, as we face the obstacles and opposition that attempt to break the spirit of what we want to accomplish in life.
