
A number of black leaders were more disturbed about some of the responses to Imus then they were about what he said. For example, Michael Myers talks about the attack on free speech and the atmosphere this is creating:
Jason Whitlock talking about the Imus issue states that these types of situations are really irrelevent to blacks, as Imus is no threat to anyone. Rather, he sees it as a major distraction to real problems facing the black communities.
He also calls for new black leadership as he says that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are acting like the problems that blacks face today are the same they faced in 1965. Quite a provacative commentary:
