The Common Sense Management of Sam Walton - 66

Sam Walton Changed the Way Business Was Done for the Better

We've been talking a little about some of the bogus charges that have been made against Sam Walton and Wal-Mart, and how they've been handled.

This post let's talk some on what really happened. When you consider Walton and the changes he made in the retail industry, these changes would have come about whether there was a Sam Walton or not. All he did was see them first and adapted and adjusted quicker and quieter than his competitors. He simply made them happen faster than they would have.

The changes that he brought about were absolutely inevitable. Does anyone seriously think that the use of information technology to cut costs wouldn't have happened if there wasn't a Sam Walton or Wal-Mart? Not only did they happen Sam%20Walton%20changed%20the%20way%20business%20was%20done.jpgwith Walton first, but they went far beyond the retail industry to touch just about every business category that exists.

In retailing itself, he was the forerunner of the Lowes, Home Depots, video and book franchises that dot the landscape today and provide tremendous prices and bargains as a result.

To this day other competitors are rising based upon similar strategies that are causing the industry to continually strive to lower costs for the consumers. Businesses like Big Lots and the numerous dollar stores that seem to be everywhere you go.

There is nothing that could have stopped this low-cost and low-overhead train, no matter what the business or person was called. Not only that, but the train just keeps on getting bigger and resulting in great prices for consumers all over the world.

All of this can be traced back to Sam Walton and Wal-Mart that led the way.
