Branson's Greatest Business Feat, Perhaps, has been to Engineer a Breathtaking Life for Himself

Some people have commented on Branson saying that perhaps his greatest accomplishment was to "engineer a breathtaking life for himself."

While I don't disagree that he's done that, I thing more importantly is that he's brought those that work for and with him along for the ride.

He's imbued his virgin empire with the type of life that motivates him. Others have picked it up as well and ran with him in it.

People take what he represents as their own and brings that quirky lifestyle to the business to make Virgin what it is.

In other words the life he created wasn't simply for himself, it was by extension what Virgin became. Virgin is a portrayel of the life that he lives, and people take that life and represent it throughout the various businesses under the Virgin umbrella. Nobody is confused about who Richard Branson is and what he represents. When someone interacts with a Virgin company, nobody else is confused as well.

All the Virgin businesses are essentially Branson's invitation to experience life like he likes to live it. That's quite an accomplishment. He engineered his life to be lived vicariously through his people and his companies. He is implanted everywhere across the business culture. He wouldn't have it any other way.
