But if you were able to trade places with any corporate chieftain, wouldn't it be Richard Branson?
The above question asked by a writer is interesting in that it points to the fun part of business and life. Like Branson said, and we talked about recently, he considers l
ife and work "living." He doesn't separate them into categories.
I think what Branson does though is bring out what many people in business and management want: to have fun in what they're doing.
That's another interesting thing about all the people we talk about here at managersrealm - they all had fun in what they were doing.
Now by fun, I mean they thoroughly enjoyed every moment of their day on the job. Some of them expressed it outrageously like Branson and Kelleher, others like Buffett say they "skip" to work each day.
When you love life and what you do, the fun factor plays a big part. You simply don't want to be anywhere else. This is why all of these business leaders are so successful. But don't let the fun or enjoyment part fool you, Branson and those like him, were very shrewd and knew their businesses. The love and fun of it made that so. It's very difficult to compete with someone like that. Branson and those we feature on this site have proven it. Don't underestimate the "fun" side of doing business and leadership. It's a great differentiator.
