"People are definitely a company’s greatest asset"
Along with all the great business leaders, Mary Kay understood that a company was only as good as the people it kept. I would just add a little change to that and say it's as good as the "right" people we keep.
Finishing up her comments about "People are definitely a company’s greatest asset," she added that,"It doesn't make any difference whether the product is cars or cosmetics. A company is only as good as the people it keeps."
What she says is true. The insight into it doesn't matter what product or service you offer if you aren't able to get and keep the right people.
But the very attitude from the beginning increases the likelyhood that we'll get and retain great people. The first step toward that is knowing that it is true ... that it isn't simply a nice saying to banter around that everyone else says.
Mary Kay knew she couldn't possibly succeed without a great force of people in the company, so she did everything she could to take what she was as an individual and had succeeded with and pour it into her people to spread it across the organization. An unknown number responded and became successful, not only in the company but in their own lives as represented by the motto of the company of putting God first, family second and career third.
That was the measurement she used to determine the success of her people, and by her measurements many succeeded. It all starts with the real and genuine appreciation for what the great people we have contribute to our success.
