Mary Kay Ash: She Never Wavered - 4

"Every failure, obstacle or hardship is an opportunity in disguise."

Many times in our business or management careers, we face obstacles that seem to be insurmountable. But in the vast majority of cases, if not all of them, they can be faced and conquered if we look at them as opportunities.

Mary Kay always looked at life that way. Some of our greatest triumphs are usually when we believe the times are the darkest and there is no way out. But when we start to look at what's happening as an opportunity for something else, the%20mary%20kay%20dream.gifit's amazing some of the answers and ideas that come about from that.

Right after Mary Kay said what she said above in the header, she added that "Success in many cases is failure turned inside out." When you come right down to it, if there weren't problems, we wouldn't be on the journey. If we weren't on the journey, there'd be nothing that would be an obstacle because we weren't on the path in the first place.

The idea is that the journey ensures that there will be obstacles, obstacles ensure that we are going somewhere, going somewhere means that we've got to find a way around obstacles to get there. It doesn't mean we'll do it on the first try though.

When we have a desination in mind, and keep our eye on that end-game, answers will come no matter what hinders us. It's when we take our eyes off of the end that we can get into trouble and failure because we are tempted to change where it is we're going.

As long as we keep our purpose in front of us, we'll get to our destination. We may have to climb a mountain, dig around a big rock, swim a river or run an obstacle course, but eventually we'll get there.

Those that don't make it are those that forget the purpose and only focus on the obstacle. Purpose brings the answer to obstacles as we never move off of it. It's only that we may have to try a lot of different things before the purpose and answers line up.

The key is to never take your eyes off of or create another purpose than the one you seek. If you do, it'll be an endless journey of no journey's as you go back to start over and over again.
