I believe that each of us has God-given talents within us waiting to be brought to fruition
The thing I like about Mary Kay's belief that everyone has talents within them, is that it creates the atmosphere and business culture which helps to bring those talents out.
If they're "waiting to be brought to fruition," as Ash says, then that means that something can be done to trigger them to come forth. That was the whole concept that Mary Kay envisioned when she created her company. She wanted to empower women especially, into tapping into those hidden talents and making full use of them, without sacrificing everything else in the process.
The way she planned and built the company was for the very purpose of tapping into and drawing out those resources so that women could go as far as they wanted to within their chosen field. Many enjoyed extraordinary success, and the resultant pink cadillac wasn't a bad perk to be able to show forth that success.
Some people actually resented this process she developed because they said it didn't work for them. But what will work for everybody? It doesn't exist. But for those that were wired for the type of business and model that Mary Kay developed, encouraged and challenged them with, it was the right thing at the right time, and many were wildly successful in spite of some of the detractors.
The other thing is that all of this is also a journey, not simply reaching an end. Mary Kay showed women a way to they could embrace that could help them be successful spiritually, with their families and financially. All of it starting from her belief that they had it in them all the time to succeed; they just needed a vehicle to tap into their inner resources. Mary Kay provided that vehicle, and the rest is history.
