"We need leaders who add value to the people and the organization they lead; who work for the benefit of others and not just for their own personal gain."
This is one of those statements that are so simple and easy to understand but which too few are willing to do as part of their role as leaders in business.
Many of the great leaders and people we talk about here at managersrealm are great at the statement that Mary Kay makes. They understand that be adding value to their people, they will add value to the business that they lead. If they add value to the business, they add value to their customers. If they do that, they will get everything in life they ever have dreamed of.
The truly great managers know that it isn't about themselves, it's about living to make their people great so that they can achieve everything they want in life.
When you put others in front of yourself as a manager, you will always achieve what it is you want. When you put yourself and your personal gain before others, rarely is it that you can achieve the goals you have set for yourself. And even those that have still achieved them, have paid so highly by losing much of who they are, that the achievement is very bittersweet at a minimum.
Mary Kay is right, we do need business leaders who put others before them as a way of doing business and managing their companies. Those doing that will find that when they put others first, everything they want will come their way.
