Put God first, family second and career third
Mary Kay Ash was one of the great examples of someone believing in something and never moving off of it. She built her company based upon several simple principles that she repeated over and over again. The result was that you were never unsure of what it was that Mary Kay stood for.
Her three principles were this: "Put God first, family second and career third." She absolutely never backed off of those beliefs, and it both won her praise from friends and alienated many that would have otherwise been her allies. She didn't care. She knew who she was and what she believed and she stuck with it.
We talk about that a lot here concerning being genuine. If nothing else, Mary Kay Ash was all of that.
Because she took her faith in God (Jesus) seriously, she also believed in hard work, the Golden Rule and family values.
She saw what happened to people that reversed the success order she believed in, and as a result stuck strongly to that being a core value that she wanted to build the company upon ... along with the women she helped to succeed as well. The vast majority of those she worked with loved her for it.
Mary Kay Ash was one of those dynamos that always found a way to remove obstacles or go around them. One of the keys to it was here unwavering, steadfast faithfulness to who she really was.
Not only was it her true beliefs, but it was simple as well ... anybody could understand it. Those two attributes of being genuine and making things simple and easy to understand, are two of the great secrets to the success of great business leaders. Mary Kay had them both in a big way.

This is a wonderful article about Mary Kay, but it would have been nice to use HER picture, rather than the character from the movie. The picture you used is of Shirley MacLaine.
