I was pointed, by the GSC management blog, to a white paper called 'Disorganisation' by telco Orange UK and Demos.
Basically the study reiterated something we've talked about here on what workers will continuously want from their workplace.
What it all boils down to is flexibility and self-government. While work is important to people, there is an increasing desire for people to partake in other important things in their lives like spouses, children, family and pursuing interests outside of the workplace that make a difference.
The point is that this is becoming the biggest differentiator in a company's ability to attract valuable people. There is not a company that won't need to get this down right. It must be proactively dealt with; not simply let go as if it's something secondary on our priority list.
While this is important at any time, it will be even more crucial now and in the days ahead, as worker shortages are already being experienced. This isn't something that is going to happen, it's here; now! Shortages will only continue to grow for years. We can't afford to wait to take action.
