Another Reason we Need People Smarter Than we are

Last post we talked about if you want to grow past a certain stage or size in your business, the day will come when you have to hire people smarter than yourself.

In reference to adding businesses, the same is true. We've talked before about Branson's ability to manager a numerous number of business across a vast field of interests.

Hiring%20Smarter%20People%20Than%20We%20Are.jpgWhile he says he immerses himself in the businesses so he can understand them, we know that nobody could do it with over 200 businesses and have any type of in-depth understanding of how they work. That's why he's always looking for people with interesting ideas that he can than take and put into promising businesses that come about from those ideas.

It's the same thing as hiring for an individual business when it needs to grow ... except now you're hiring for another business altogether. We need to at least have a good, general idea of how the businesses run if we are going to go the route of having more than one under the corporate wing. But only hiring someone that truly understands the business in all its variety, could really run it like it should be run.

That's why once things begin to go and grow, a business leader's job is to be a steward of the vision, considered a person of integrity, and create the trust in people that they have the ability to make the business tremendously profitable. Branson has that ability. Another reason for his great success.
