Richard Branson and his Hunger to Experience Life
When asked about watching and sitting in on a hurricane that pummeled his island home a couple of years ago, he said that he sat in it on purpose.
He commented: "I hate the idea of not experiencing something. It was a completely awesome experience. Just watching the seas, and the velocity of the wind, and the sounds. It was fantastic."
I think this is a secret to Branson's success that translates throughout his companies and to his employees and eventually to the customer. When you hear him say the words that he hates not to experience something, I think that he
projects that throughout his business and it moves the entire enterprise.
While we couldn't know whether this is done intentionally, or simply is imparted because it's part of who he is, it definitely is one of the secrets to his success in my opinion.
As you really think of it, meditate on the fantastic consequences of transferring that to the people you serve. Think of a company that doesn't want their customers to miss out on having an awesome, fantastic experience; that a company exists to provide that for the people they serve. You couldn't miss very often if that permeated a business and workers.
When you have a great vision and the desire to share that vision with everybody around you - from your employees to your customers - the results will be phenomenal; it becomes something you are that simply can't and won't be resisted.
Live to give your people an experience that you don't want them to miss.
