A Business Must Challenge your Creative Instincts
We've already talked about Branson's insistence on his people having fun in his businesses. Another thing that he wants to ensure are part of the businesses he gets involve in are that they will challenge his creativity and the creativity of his people.
This is one of the things that keep employees happy, loyal, and engaged.
What's especially interesting to me is that I think that any business could be this way if leadership and workers are committed to excellence and improvement. Even the most stodgy type of work can be exciting if it's cutting edge and you're introducing new, interesting products or services that directly reflect the reputation of the company and those that work for it.
It seems that far too many people in businesses try to do too many complicated things where it can sometimes counteract the fun of having short-term victories. Something that can kill creativity is something that takes far too long to gain some progress in.
Anyway, this is another part of Branson's success puzzle. We must make sure that we are always pushing the limits and challenging our peoples' creative juices.
