The Importance of People to Branson

Branson once did an interview for Forbes and he was asked about how he was able to turn so many businesses into successes. His answer was that it was all about people. He added that there was nothing else that's even a close second.

He not only says it, but lives it. He has more than 5,000 Virgin employees. He sends a letter to all of them once a month asking and inviting them to contact him at any time with any type of issue, dream, vision or idea that they may have. They respond to him because they know he means it. It's one of those areas that you can't be a fake in; people know!

The result has been that he has started quite a number of businesses that he has rewarded the initiators in by offering them to run the business they suggested. It's another big reason why he's so respected by his people, who would just about do anything to make the business succeed.

What is important is that who he is and what he says are one. People know that his word can be counted on and respond back in kind. Many people say the right things; Branson does the right things. This is an area that business needs to step up in all over the world. It would change everything.

we don't need more people saying things they know people want to hear, we need more people that do what they say. Branson is an example that can show the way in this vital area.
